DELAYS were caused to motorists on the M40 southbound on Monday morning, following a two-car crash in rush-hour traffic.

Police were called at 7.12am to reports of a collision between junction 13 (Leamington) and junction 12 (Gaydon).

A spokesman from Warwickshire Police said: “A BMW and Ford cougar were involved in the collision but there were no reports of any injuries.”

A road closure was put in place at 7.43am but was lifted at 7.51am, although congestion in the area was experienced.

At 8.30am, OPU Warwickshire tweeted a thankyou to motorists for their patience, who were stuck in traffic between junction 15 (Longbridge Island) and junction 12.
