A NEW library was opened at Welcombe Hills School in Stratford-upon by children’s stand-up comic, author and poet Ian Billings.

Ian, who is from Wolverhampton, has worked with the school before, with Key Stage Three students.

Assistant headteacher, Jean Langdon, said: “It is a new library. We have been without a library for a little while, having bookshelves in the corridor.

“It was finished just after Easter, so we have been using it for a few weeks now but this was the official opening.” She added: “We’re all excited about the new library and the children love it.”

Those at the opening event included school governors, two representatives from Warwickshire Library Service, children representing each Key Stage, and headteacher, Judith Humphry.
