"Inappropriate" apartments plan rejected
Planners have rejected a plan to build new apartments on the site of a former Stratford pub, describing the building as “poorly designed”.
The concept, put forward by Stratford architects Studio Spicer, had proposed a four storey building containing three one and two bedroom apartments, alongside four new townhouses on Mansell Street.
Stratford Town Council strongly objected to the proposal stating: “The principle of redeveloping this site for residential may be accepted if the existing use is struggling. However the scale, mass, height, bulk, choice of materials and overall design is incongruous, unsympathetic, out of character and inappropriate for this location.”
