Stratford business gives its loos a makeover from out of this world

NO-ONE can hear you in outer space and that’s just as well, when it comes to going to the loo.

And with this in mind, a Stratford company boss has installed three whacky washrooms at its head offices.

Dubbed The Woods, The Beach and Outer Space, each is designed around a distinctive theme and even comes with a matching soundtrack.

When someone steps into The Beach they hear the sounds of the seaside, complete with seagulls and the song Don’t Worry, Be Happy.

The woods are full of noise from chirping insects and birds, while anyone venturing into outer space is serenaded by sci-fi movie music.

Steve Doyle, founder and chief executive of electric car and battery industry recruitment specialist EVera, took the plunge as since his team moved into The Huf House on Timothy’s Bridge Road a year ago, they’ve grown to 24 staff and there just weren’t enough toilets.

And since it needed a refurbishment to add another comfort station, rather than sticking to a wee redesign, Steve decided to go potty.

He explained: “Going to the loo is a very personal thing and I want everyone to have a favourite toilet.

“If someone wants to go and launch something into outer space, do something in the woods or sit on the beach, they can.

“It’s a bit of fun.”

The engineer, who was born and brought up in Stratford, added: “As a chief executive I’ve got four functions which are to make sure everything’s legal, make sure there’s money in the bank, hire the right people and look after them and this is part of number four, by making our offices a nice place to be.

“We can’t wait for clients to come in. I’m betting that when they go into one of the toilets, they’ll just have to take a look in the other two as well.”
