Sharron said: “Humphrey is an 18-month-old chocolate brown Cocker Spaniel, Poodle cross who I acquired at 14 weeks old. He was the runt so to speak of the litter, and desperate for a home.

"A tad underweight, he was the last one to be sold. He has grown to be a slightly larger than normal as I keep being told.

“He unfortunately has mild hip dysplasia but that doesn't stop him jumping and spinning around. I should of called him Tigger!

"He adores people and other dogs, with his favourite girlfriend on the block being Bella. He is well known in the town and welcomed in the pub with biscuits galore.”

Humphrey was among more than 1,800 dogs who have taken part in the Scruffts heats this year, raising more than £3,600 for the Kennel Club Charitable Trust and each event’s chosen charity.

None of the dogs left empty-handed, as all competitors received James Wellbeloved treats and a copy of Your Dog magazine, the Scruffts media partner.
