Bulldozers could be closing in on Wellesbourne’s Hastings House Medical Centre if an application to redevelop the site is approved by Stratford District Council.

Plans to replace the surgery with a new state-of-the-art medical centre elsewhere in the village have been progressing well in recent months following a period of uncertainty over its funding during the winter.

With the new £4 million surgery on Dog Close back on track, developers have been quick to eye up the Hastings House site on Kineton Road.

The applicant James O’Flanagan is proposing to build four new houses on the site, each with four bedrooms and associated access and parking.

The deadline for commenting on the application is 9 August and the district council is expected to make a decision on the application in September.

Building work on the new medical centre, which will include 11 consulting rooms, a minor operations suite and further capacity for expansion, is expected to start this winter.
