Hospital's secret garden is a novel idea
Opening the garden, Jayne Blacklay, the hospital trust’s director of development, said: “It is fantastic to see the garden now it has been transformed into such a pleasant space and I want to thank our staff and partners from all the local organisations whose hard work has made it possible.
“At this hospital site we are here to support and treat people when they are ill, but we also have an important role to play in helping to promote healthy lifestyles.”
The edible gardens are part of the work the trust is carrying out in its role as a pathfinder organisation for the Food For Life Partnership (FFLP) — national collaboration between schools, communities and food focussed charities to change the way we see food and drink by highlighting the benefits of a healthy, sustainable diet.
