Hospital fundraisers hit £800,000 milestone
Fundraisers for the new Stratford Cancer and Eye Hospital have reached the £800,000 mark in their efforts to collect £1million to enhance the new facility.
With their £1million target edging closer and closer, organisers of the appeal are hopeful they can raise the full amount by the end of the year.
Money raised will fund additional facilities at the new £22 million hospital such as chemotherapy treatment pods.
Denys Shortt OBE, chairman of the appeal said: “We’re thrilled to have reached the £800k fundraising milestone in the appeal. Raising this much money is a huge achievement and testament to the dedication of everyone who has supported this important project. We’re extremely grateful for this support and want to use this momentum as we work towards our overall goal of £1million.”
Jenny Farrell, chair of the community working group, added: “I would like to thank everyone who has worked tirelessly to help us raise £800k towards the Stratford Cancer and Eye Hospital Appeal. This hospital will serve the community for many years to come so it’s wonderful that so many local people have got involved and helped to make it something that Stratford can be proud of.”
The new hospital, which the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust hopes will become a centre of excellence for cancer treatment, will open its doors next spring.
