Henley Foodbank set to merge with Stratford foodbank
HENLEY Foodbank is set to close as the organisation looks to pool its resources with Stratford Foodbank.
Henley Foodbank, which was set up in 2013, will no longer run its regular Thursday night sessions.
Users will instead be able to pick up food parcels from Stratford Foodbank or if they can’t make it in, from designated pick up points around Henley.
Elaine Field said: “A lot of our users are referred to us from organisations in Stratford such as the Citizens Advice Bureau, so it makes sense for them to pick up their parcels when they are in Stratford.
“We will have parcels available to pick up in Henley though at the vicarage, the Henley Hub and at the school.
“It’s a more flexible way of working, not everyone can make it to our Thursday night sessions, and I think this change will make us more efficient. Stratford Foodbank is better resourced and open more, so this is a good thing.
“Since 2013 we have fed more than 100 different families in Henley and there has been an increase over time. Although I’m a bit sad that Henley Foodbank is closing, I’m really proud of the work we’ve done to help people.”
