Helping families cope with suicide

A FREE event to help people cope with issues relating to suicide will be held by a new help group called Silence of Suicide (SOS) at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon on Friday 18th November from 6pm to 8pm.

The evening is hosted by SOS founders Michael Mansfield QC and Yvette Greenway and is sponsored by Crowne Plaza; it is the first time SOS has staged such an event in Stratford.

Michael Mansfield tragically lost his daughter – Anna, aged 44 - when she committed suicide last year.

Yvette Greenway said: “Our initiatives give everyone the chance to contribute in whatever way they feel comfortable with. You can discuss suicide without fear of judgement or ridicule in the company of others who've also lived your experience.”

Tom Ganner, practice manager, Rother House Medical Centre, who will be attending the event said: “Rother House strongly supports the SOS programme. It is important to help and support friends and families affected by suicide. It is also important that individuals at risk are identified and supported appropriately.”
