Heated debate at Orbit meeting
STRATFORD Orbit Tenants Action Group hosted its first meeting with senior management representatives from the housing association at Bishopton Community Centre last week.
At times feisty, often derisory, it was never going to be an easy task fronting up to a group of more than 40 Orbit tenants who crammed into the community centre in combative mood, and pulling no punches in the three-hour debate.
Critical to the whole success of the operation was Orbit’s understanding of just how serious some of the issues continue to be; broken or cancelled appointments from contractors; repeated requests for straightforward service operations, mould in hallways and bathrooms, maintenance, tenancy sustainment, sale of properties, vulnerable tenants, communication and engagement.
It was uphill from there on and to be expected for an inaugural meeting where emotions were high.
A follow-up meeting is scheduled within the next few months.
