PETER Horrocks has taken over as the local leader at the United Reformed Church (URC).

He replaces Rev Graham Spicer who retired from the position on 30th September after 40 years at the URC, 18 of which he was also an ordained minister.

Peter Horrocks is a doctor by profession and spent 28 years at Warwick Hospital until his retirement. As minister Peter will be working with nine elders serving the congregation and the community.

As leader he will be responsible for taking church services, chairing meetings, representing the URC locally and nationally and he will also undertake communion, baptisms, weddings and funerals.

At Peter’s induction service on 1st October the mayor of Stratford and the chairman of the district council attended and music was provided by Andrew Henderson, head of music at King Edward VI School.

“I’ve retired from one job and taken up another one with the church,” Peter said.
