Government cash funds first addiction clinic

A DRUG and alcohol community rehabilitation centre has opened in Stratford-on-Avon district.

The 11-bed facility in Southam is the first in Warwickshire and has been funded by Public Health England (PHE) and ESH Works Ltd, which will run it.

Warwickshire’s Drug and Alcohol service has recently been redesigned to take into account changing local priority needs with a clear focus on prevention and early intervention and sustained recovery.

Residential Rehabilitation forms an integral part of the adult drug and alcohol service.

And ESH will offer residents seamless re-integration with recovery community support to reduce the likelihood of relapse, education for families to strengthen relationships and enable sustained recovery and access to dedicated local employment support.

Sarah Burwood, of PHE West Midlands, said: “This is an excellent example of how the Department of Health capital funding can support projects helping their clients to overcome dependency from drugs and alcohol.”

Cllr Caborn, portfolio holder for health and social care, said: “It provides a safe and supportive environment for residents to address their addiction problems.”
