Good Ofsted results for local schools

Four local schools have been given a clean bill of health by Ofsted, with inspectors concluding that they are all offering a good standard of education.

Wellesbourne Primary School, Newbold and Treddington Primary, Claverdon Primary and Claverdon Nursery School, have each been judged as good in recent weeks, following inspections in 2018.

The four schools continue to maintain their rating of good, with leadership at all the schools complimented by inspectors.

At Claverdon Primary inspectors said pupils were polite, happy and curious about their learning and had mature and sensitive views.

The report stated that there is a clear sense of teamwork between staff and pupils.

Kate Gover, headteacher at Claverdon Primary, said: “It was certainly a very rigorous inspection, they left no stone unturned. The inspector was very impressed by the children because everyone seemed to be singing from the same hymn sheet where the school’s values were concerned.

“They also remarked on the children’s enthusiasm for learning, our pupils particularly enjoy artwork.

“It was great sense of teamwork that we have here, which we’re very proud of. It was rigorous, it was stressful but I think we came through this inspection with flying colours.”

The report into Newbold and Treddington CofE Primary commended staff for skilfully managing the school’s two sites.

Sam Welsby, headteacher at Newbold and Treddington School, said: “I would like to extend my congratulations to all the staff, Governors and, most of all, the children of Newbold and Tredington CofE Primary School for the outcome of our recent inspection. The school has been judged as continuing to be Good under the new Ofsted framework.

“We should all be proud of our school which continues to improve over time. As was noted by the inspector “The welcoming and friendly ethos of the school provides a wonderful environment for pupils, in which to develop, academically and socially. Staff take the time to get to know pupils as individuals and, as a result, pupils receive high-quality care and support.”

“The inspector also remarked that the senior leadership team and governors have an excellent understanding of what needs to be done to improve the school even further.”

Inspectors described Wellesbourne CofE Primary as “a happy school where pupils behave well, work hard and achieve good outcomes.”

It added that pupils were performing above the national average in reading.

The inspection report into Claverdon Village Nursery said children make good progress in their communication and language development and older children express themselves clearly and confidently.

The report added that partnerships between the school and parents were strong.
