STUDENTS at Stratford-upon-Avon Girls’ Grammar School have been working to develop the ‘car of the future’ as part of a special project supported by a major car company.

The project, which began seven months ago, gave students Parishee Desai, Eleanor Hodgson, Hannah May and Hannah Willis, the opportunity to work with engineers from Tata Motors’ European Technical Centre.

The group initially focused on what consumers in Tata’s home market of India would be looking for in the next generation of vehicles, before they developed a hand-built prototype.

And on Thursday, 28th April, the students gave a formal presentation to a panel and received high praise for their prototype.

Each student received a Level 3 Industrial Cadets’ Gold Award with TMETC receiving an Industrial Cadets’ Gold Certificate of Accreditation and an Engineering Education Scheme national award.

Tata Motors own Jaguar Land Rover, which is based in Gaydon.

Another team of girls from Shottery worked with Aston Martin. They were Rebecca Stokes, Kate Bassil, Suki Scholes and Emma Heritage.
