Gearing up for events celebrating motoring

Classic car lovers are in for a weekend to remember with two special events set to take place in the region.

The British Motor Museum will host the Gaydon Festival of Transport on Sunday, while Ragley Hall will play host to the Classic Car Motor Show on Sunday and Monday.

The event at the motor museum will feature a range of motorised transport from cars to fire tenders and tanks, with plenty of family entertainment thrown in.

The aim of the festival is to highlight some of the best classics ever produced and hundreds of vehicles are expected to take part.

Family activities will include miniature crazy golf, bouncy castles, falconry, a gunnery display featuring rifle shooting, tank firing and laser clay pidgeon shooting, with there will also be a bug show and face painting.

As well as entry into the show, the admission fee also includes entry into the newly refurbished British Motor Museum and the brand new Collections Centre.

Tickets for the show cost £10 in advance or £14 on the day for adults, £6 in advance or £9 on the day for children and £39 on the day for a family. Family activities are included in the admission price except Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting and Bouncy Castles.

At Ragley Hall more than 600 vintage, classic, American, kit and custom cars and motorcycles are expected to take part in the Classic Motor Show.

New for 2016, the show will feature an interactive arena where visitors can find out more about the vehicles, as well as listen to live music and classic memories from the 1940’ to 1980’s. Jayne Darling, a professional singer, will be performing a collection of vintage classics throughout the weekend.

Several car clubs will be in attendance including the Metropolitan Owners Club and Austin 10 Driver Club celebrating the history of local car production at Longbridge. The Lotus Drivers Club will also be celebrating their 50 anniversary with a special display on the Sunday

Visitors can also enjoy family water sport activities on the Ragley Lake as well as the Adventure Wood with 3D maze and Woodland Walk.

With something for everyone, the show is a great day out for all the family and not just motor enthusiasts!”

Tickets for the show cost £10 for adults, £5 for children, £25 for a family (2 adults & 2 children), those under the age of four and Ragley members can attend for free.
