THE teamwork has paid off as pupils, parents and staff at Stratford Primary celebrate raising £20,000 for new playground equipment which includes a state of the art climbing frame.

Their enthusiastic efforts over the last two years of fundraising have included bake offs, discos, summer fairs, movie nights and music soirees.

“We are in a very fortunate position to have extremely supportive parents. Their relentless commitment to fundraising over the past two years will impact on hundreds of children and their enjoyment at playtimes for many years to come,” said Emma Cox, head teacher.

Come the start of the new term in September the pupils will have access to a brand new climbing frame and other items in their playground.

During the fund raising campaign, a thermometer was positioned by the school gates to let people know how much had been raised and thanks to the Friends of Stratford Primary, Jaguar Land Rover and a mystery Santa who donated £2,000 last December, the school children hit their target last week.

“I see the children’s excitement about the new climbing frame and how much they will enjoy playtimes but I’m not sure if any of the staff will give it a go!” Mrs Cox said.
