A FUN day to raise money for Stratford Upon Avon Riding for the Disabled (RDA) and Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, will take place on Sunday (21st August).

Kineton Fun Ride is being held in fond memory of Liz Jackson, who died after a fall while horse riding near Southam, in January this year.

Mrs Jackson fell when she was riding along a country lane between Fenny Compton and Farnborough, with her husband Simon Jackson, who was Stratford District Council chairman from 2014-15.

The seven-mile ride is set to take approximately two hours, and will start and end at Bronwen Hurley’s Kineton Grange Farm, just off junction 12 of the M40.

Riders will go past Lighthorne and to Home Farm, in Compton Verney, where the RDA Stratford group is based.

Refreshments of squash and biscuits will be served at Home Farm, which have been donated by Sainsbury’s, in Wellesbourne.

The ride will then continue across to Combroke and back to Kineton Grange Farm, where hot food, tea and coffee will be served by Red Banger Catering.

Donna Jenkins, of Stratford RDA, who has helped organise the event with Bronwen, said every rider will be given a number as they leave the farm and will receive a rosette on completion, which has been sponsored by NFU.

Donna said: “Liz’s husband is now a volunteer with us. Bronwen approached us saying she was looking to organise another fun ride with funds to be split between us and the air ambulance.

“Liz organised the same Fun Ride, when Simon was chairman of the district council, and the RDA was one of his chosen charities for the year.”

Donna explained that Liz worked tirelessly organising events, which culminated in a donation of more than £4,500 towards the installation of a hydraulic mounting lift at Home Farm.

She added: “Bronwen said it would be good to hold the fun ride one more time in memory of Liz, and we agreed. We’re hoping for a good turnout and nice weather.”

Riders can take part in the event from 10.30am until 2pm. Entry will cost adults £20 and £10 for children aged 16 and under.

All children aged under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Entries will be on the day at Kineton Grange Farm, CV35 0EE.
