Fresh plans for care village
Applications to build two major care developments in Stratford and Shipston have been submitted to Stratford District Council.
The first project is proposed on land adjacent to the Rosebird Centre on Shipston Road in Stratford, whilst the other would be built on a former industrial site on Tilemans Lane in Shipston.
The application in Stratford has been submitted by McCarthy and Stone Retirement Lifestyles Ltd and would see 27 new houses, 27 one bed apartments and 29 two bed apartments built on the site.
The accommodation would provide assisted living for the elderly, with day to day care tailored to the occupant’s individual needs.
The application is a resubmission of a previous proposal which was rejected in March after the applicant failed to demonstrate residents would have access to local facilities and services and that there was suitable drainage on the site.
It was also in part rejected as it was situated on a site that is medium to high sensitivity to housing.
The proposal in Shipston details how a 60-bed care home and 12 extra care apartments would be built on the site of a former turbine building on Tilemans Lane.
The application, from Frontier Estates, details how the former turbine building would be demolished and the new facility built set back from the road.
A decision on both applications is expected in September.
