FORMER Stratford-upon-Avon Girls' Grammar School student, production designer Sarah Greenwood, is nominated in the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), which take place tonight, Sunday.

Sarah, whose parents live in Ilmington, is up for a Production Award, along with her colleague Katie Spencer. The awards will be show on BBC One.

They have two nominations, for their work on Beauty and the Beast and The Darkest Hour; are are up against the production designers of Blade Runner 2049, Dunkirk and The Shape of Water.

Sarah and Katie are also nominated for this year’s Oscars, which take place on 4th March.

Speaking to Herald arts as part of a longer feature in March’s edition of Focus magazine, Sarah doubted that she would be victorious at either the BAFTAs or the Oscars.

“The bottom line is we are not going to win,” she told us pragmatically.

“At the Art Directors Guild Awards a couple of weeks ago we lost out to Blade Runner. I think that’s how it’s going to go because people love The Shape of Water and Blade Runner is just amazing.

"Beauty of the Beast was a long time ago now so out of people’s minds and Darkest Hour is to be frank quite simple in its design.”

Focus is out on 1st March.
