THE 1st Shottery Scout Group raised just under £700 from its annual Christmas card post service.

The Scout group’s fundraiser sold approximately 2,150 stamps and most of the cards have already been delivered or will be completed by Christmas Eve.

They delivered around 2,500 cards last year. Stephen Rawlins, with the 1st Shottery Scout group, said: “It was perhaps not as high as we’d hoped, but higher than we expected.

“It’s a little bit lower than usual, but I think that’s the trend of people sending fewer Christmas cards.”

The money raised will go towards the cost of attending a large county-wide Scout camp to be held in north Warwickshire in the summer when hopefully about 3,000 youth members from the whole of Warwickshire will attend.

All sections of the Shottery Scout group plan to attend, including the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts along with a large number of leaders and adult helpers.
