Erotic swingers' party in full swing at historic house near Stratford

Locals aren’t so sure. One resident, who did not wish to be identified, said: “The whole thing is little more than a bonking festival. The place already looks like ‘tent town’. They’re expecting over 500 people to attend right through until Sunday night.

Councillor Peter Phillips of Warwick District Council, which approved the festival, now believes the actual application for the event was “economical with the truth about what was actually going to take place. Nevertheless it is perfectly legitimate.”

Mr Robin Smith-Ryland said the event had so far gone very well. "Times have changed from 20 or 30 years ago when people had a different opinion. Having said that, there were swingers' parties going on in the 1970s. I went to one, when I was in my twenties, it was in Santa Monica, California but I didn't join in; I think I got home at 4am. For this weekend's festival we've been mindful of the villagers and made sure everything is private and we've not had any complaints about noise or anything else."
