A NEWLY upgraded play area at Mary Arden’s Farm is just one of the many activities available through the Shakespeare Family Homes in Stratford over the Easter holidays.

Explore the grounds where Shakespeare’s mother once lived at Mary Arden’s farm where you’ll find lots of rare-breed farmyard animals from horses and donkeys, to English Longhorn cattle, Cotswold sheep and pigs.

The playground area includes a new swing set and climbing tower, complete with bridges, ropes to swing from and a scramble wall.

The childhood home of Shakespeare’s wife, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, offers a family activity marquee with various crafting opportunities such as create your own Easter bonnet sessions.

In the garden at the Shakespeare’s Birthplace you can catch some of Shakespeare’s plays live with performances from the in-house acting troupe, Shakespeare Aloud.

At Shakespeare’s New Place you can discover Shakespeare’s family tree and then have a go at making your own family tree in the activity room.

Ruth Warner, head of visitor experience at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust said: “Spring is wonderful time to visit the Shakespeare Family Homes. We’ve organised a fantastic range of games, crafts, fascinating historical talks and displays for visitors of all ages and interests to enjoy this Easter holiday.”
