Drinkwater bags hat-trick as Shipston roar back to form

FOOTBALL

JAMES Drinkwater netted a hat-trick to fire Shipston Excelsior to a devastating 8-1 win at home to Castle Vale Town in Midland League Division Three.

Drinkwater lead the way as Shipston cruised to their biggest win of the season with the perfect response to back-to-back losses.

Jake Harris scored twice, with Alex Seys, Nicholas Shurmer and Wayne Barton also on target.

Alcester Town were left frustrated after having to settle for a goalless draw at home to CT Shush.

Alcester created plenty of chances but could not finish off their good work.

Lewis Marston, Jimmy Ward and Ellis Kalach threatened in the first without finding the net and it was a similar story after the break. Ashley Bunn, Ward, Matthew Chambers and Kalach had chances but the Shush keeper was equal to the task.

Racing Club Warwick set up an FA Vase second qualifying round tie at home to Coventry Copsewood after brushing aside hosts Leicester Road 4-1.

Adam Knight scored a hat-trick for the Racers, with Oliver Manoochehri also on target. Joe Kennedy replied for the home side.

Studley defeated Long Buckby 3-0 at the Beehive, with Andy Nicol scoring twice after Dan Evans opened the scoring. The Bees wil entertain Hanley Town in the next round on September 23.
