Design award for Fordham House
Fordham House in Stratford has been awarded a gold standard award in recognition of the security measures incorporated into the building’s design.
The 82 apartment building opened last year on the corner of Birmingham Road and Clopton Road and was developed by Orbit in partnership with Deeley Construction ABD Developments and Stratford Town Trust.
The gold standard award, presented by Secured by Design, was presented in recognition not only of the building’s standard security measures such as windows, doors and locks, but the enhanced crime prevention techniques employed at the site.
Automated rising bollards for resident parking, a part time caretaker and privacy blinds for ground and first floor apartments were some of the additional measures employed.
Adam Cooper, commercial director at Orbit said: “We are really pleased to achieve the highest award from Secure by Design. We believe in providing high quality, secure homes for our customers and are proud to be recognised for taking extra measures to heighten the security at Fordham House.”
Ian King, crime prevention design advisor at Warwickshire Police said: “Orbit has taken on board the principles from the SBD initiative and taken extra steps to design out crime. The standard of security included in the design of the development exceeded my expectations. It is a hard act to follow.”
