Council rules on latest homes plans
The approval by the east area planning committee came amid objections from the former ward district councillor, Simon Jackson, and Burton Dassett Parish Council.
There were also several letters of objection from individuals.
However, the committee did turn down an application for 32 homes behind Avon Close, off Banbury Road in Ettington.
The decision will be welcomed by the 227 residents who wrote letters of objection.
They were backed in their opposition by Ettington Parish Council and ward councillor, Philip Seccombe.
Concerns included an increase in traffic, a sudden increase in population and the loss of open land as the application was submitted at the time an appeal for an 80-development on the other side of Banbury Road, in Rogers Lane, was being considered. Those plans have since been rejected by a government planning inspector.
Planning officers had recommended the application be approved.
Members of the committee approved detailed plans for nine homes in Stratford Road, Shipson-on-Stour, the change of use of a barn at Pig Cotes, Welsh Road, Pillerton Priors, to a home, while they rejected plans for a new two-story detached home at the site of a property known as Leylett in Banbury Road, Pillerton Priors.
Tonight (Thursday), councillors will consider plans for 60 homes off Oak Road, Tiddington, ten homes in Waterloo Crescent, Bidford, 27 sheltered apartments for the elderly in Priory Road, Alcester, the conversion of a redundant threshing barn into two houses in Stratford Road, Charlecote.
