There’s always a warm welcome at Alveston church thanks to new heating system

ST JAMES’ Church, Alveston, has always offered a warm welcome but it’s even warmer now thanks to the installation of six radiant heating chandeliers making the church one of the few to have this super eco-friendly system.

A Christmas craft fair was recently held to help pay for the new halo heaters and £2,466 was raised from the sale of cakes, leather crafts, wood turning products, face creams and items made by Hathaway Quilters.

“The fair was held at the youth hostel which was superb. Meanwhile, we unveiled a 17 foot knitted Christmas tree in the church. Every Wednesday, knitters and villagers got together for a Woolly Wednesday session and knitted the tree which now hangs in the church. Alveston churches are committed to community engagement and Saturday’s craft fair was all about that,” said Rev Linda MacDermott, the Vicar of Alveston.
