Chimney catches fire in Dorsington

It is the latest of a string of chimney fires in Warwickshire despite warnings from the fire service about the importance of keeping chimneys swept.

The advice from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is to sweep chimneys of smokeless coal fires at least once a year, wood fires up to four times a year, bituminous coal fires twice a year, oil and gas fires once a year.

In September, Stratford-upon-Avon-based NFU Mutual estimated that it alone could pay out £4million for claims made last year.
