Celebrating joint first anniversary
HEATHCOTE Primary School in Warwick and school catering company Educaterers, jointly celebrated their first anniversary at a special event for pupils and staff at the school on Tuesday last week.
The school opened in September last year to provide school places for the new community currently under construction off Harbury Lane in Warwick.
Lara Jeffries, Headteacher, said: “One of our school priorities is ensuring we promote a healthy lifestyle. Educaterers have really supported that, serving tasty balanced meals every day. It is our responsibility to teach our children the importance of a healthy diet and regular exercise; at Heathcote this is embedded in all we do!”
Educaterers is celebrating its first year as a stand-alone business following its move away from being run as a local authority service to become the County’s first Local Authority Traded Company.
Pupils and staff from Heathcote Primary School joined Managing Director of Educaterers, Terry Tredget, to mark the occasion with a special celebratory cake that was enjoyed by the children following their Educaterers lunch.
The school was also presented with a selection of kitchen utensils for the children to use when cooking in class.
Educaterers launched in September 2017, taking over the delivery of school meals from Warwickshire County Caterers, which had provided a successful catering service to schools in the county for over 25 years.
A successful first year of trading has seen £1.2 million of business achieved and new school contracts won, including the contract to provide meals for Heathcote Primary School from the day it opened in September 2017.
Terry Tredget, Managing Director of Educaterers, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be celebrating our first year alongside Heathcote Primary School.
“We have been able to deliver a healthy level of business and impress new customers to win even more contracts.
“I believe it is our passion for development and innovation combined with our many years of experience in the school and college catering industry that has resulted in this success, and we are continuing to re-invest in the company and our staff so our business is not only sustainable but continues to grow, taking on new contracts and more employees.”
The first anniversary celebration cake enjoyed at Heathcote Primary School was made by Julie Murray, Assistant Development Manager at Educaterers, who recently won gold and ‘Best in Class’ at the national LACA (Lead Association for Catering in Education) awards.
