Cash reward offered two months after jewellery raid

A REWARD has been offered this week for information about an armed robbery from a jewellers in January, during which £400,000 worth of items was stolen.

Three masked men, wielding crowbars, targeted Hamlington’s Fine Jewellery in Market Place, Warwick, on Tuesday, 16th January, before speeding away from the scene in a dark grey Audi Q3.

The shop’s insurers have confirmed that they have agreed to offer a conditional reward of up to £40,000, subject to information leading to the recovery of goods and reliant on a written recommendation from a senior police officer.

A smaller reward may also be paid if there is only a partial recovery of the stock taken.

Warwickshire Police have also issued their own new appeal for information about the robbery, and have released CCTV images of some of the suspects.

Police staff investigator, Dom Kennedy, said: “We have released the CCTV of two of the men we would like to speak to in connection with the robbery.

“Do you know these men or recognise their clothing? If so we would like to hear from you.”

Anyone who recognises the men or has any information on the robbery is urged to call 101 and quote incident number 270 of 16th January, 2018.

At the time of the raid, the Herald reported how the robbers jumped over the counter and threatened to harm staff members unless they co-operated.

No-one was injured in the raid but David Hamlington, who owns the business, said at the time the staff would be mentally scarred by the experience, adding: “We won’t be beaten by this, we’re down but we’re not out.”
