THE third and final day of Stratford’s first Victorian Christmas Market has been cancelled. The decision, made due to forecasted snow, came in the form of an announcement this evening, Saturday.

A spokesperson for Stratford District Council said: “Due to the extreme adverse weather conditions that have been forecast overnight, the Town and District Councils, together the with market operator, LSD Promotions, have taken the decision to cancel the Victorian Christmas Market Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon tomorrow, Sunday, 10th December 2017.

“The decision was taken in order to safeguard the wellbeing and safety of our market traders and the many visitors.

“We very much hope to welcome you to the Festival next year, but please don’t forget that there are still two Christmas Markets in Bridge Street on 14th and 21st December which are open until 8pm.”

Despite the premature closure, crowds flocked to the event yesterday and today. Full report and photos in next week’s Herald.
