A DELICIOUS and healthy full English breakfast was served up to 27 school children at Hatton Adventure World earlier today, Tuesday.

Pupils from nearby Ferncumbe School learnt about the benefits of eating a hearty breakfast, while enjoying locally-sourced bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, baked beans and wholemeal toast served by local farmers and members of the Warwickshire branch of the National Farmers’ Union (NFU).

Rupert Inkpen, chairman of the NFU's Central Warwickshire branch, said: “Going to school having eaten a nutritious breakfast gives children many health benefits and ensures they perform well in the classroom.

"Teachers can often tell which of their pupils has eaten a good breakfast before school."

Hayley Mackintosh, a teacher from Ferncumbe School, added: “It’s so important for children to visit the farmyard at Hatton and appreciate the link between the animals they feed and the healthy food they eat."

Richard Craddock, Hatton Adventure World manager, said: “It’s important to explain why breakfast is so essential, especially at this time of year when children are susceptible to illnesses."
