THE turning of the season was given a flaming welcome with with Firefest at Longbarn Village, near Alcester last Saturday (28th October).
The former rural business centre is now home to creative hub The Makers’ Space, created by husband-and-wife team photographer Charlie Budd and dressmaker Jules Fallon.
There was plenty of entertainment on offer, including and a puppet show, making workshops, plus artisanal food and drink.
Caroline Craven led glass fusing workshops teaching young and old how to create miniature glass flower and toadstools, while fire performers Jodie Southall and Jemma King braved the wet weather to entertain visitors with their fiery show.
The highlight of the evening was a fire walk in aid of MIND UK and 11 brave souls participated in a fire walking workshop led by Keith McKay from Worcestershire-based Steps For You.
Charlie, said: “Despite a rather damp evening the rain added to the drama and joie de vivre of the night with children dancing in puddles in the courtyard, and the fire performers were even more impressive in a downpour.”
Jules added: "We raised people’s spirits on a wet night and hundreds of pounds for Mind UK. I'd never done a fire walk before, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It's incredibly empowering - if you can walk on hot coals with your bare feet, you can do anything."
