Warwickshire Police are warning residents to stay vigilant after receiving reports of a bogus telephone call in Hampton Magna.
One resident received a call from a woman claiming to be from the Warwickshire Police crime prevention team before offering to sell a device for £99 that would alert friends and family to any intruders.
The caller then asked for personal details over the phone before trying to arrange a visit to the address for a free quote.
Warwickshire Police say they do not contact residents offering to sell products and anyone who receives such a call should contact them on 101.
