Big wheel's fate could be decided in July
THE fate of the big wheel in Stratford-upon-Avon could be determined early in July.
The application is due to be discussed at Stratford District Council’s Planning Meeting on Wednesday 6th July.
The proposed 35 metre high observation wheel would be located on Stratford’s Recreation Ground next to Stratford Boat Club but it has proved a highly contentious issue which has sparked objections on several fronts including privacy concerns to neighbouring buildings, conservation, and increased traffic in an already congested area.
Tony Godel, who heads the No to the Wheel objection group said: “
“The Community Group is extremely disappointed to learn that the application for the operation of a 35 metre ferris wheel on the Stratford Recreation Ground has been forwarded to the Area West Planning Committee and not been passed to Committee.
Nevertheless we remain confident that the bid will be rejected once the compelling evidence is heard regarding the negative impact this structure will have on Stratford-upon-Avon.”
