Battles and brews
TO celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sealed Knot a special weekend of battle re-enactments and a beer festival were recently held at Kineton Sports and Social Club.
Around 500 enthusiasts attended who – when they weren’t jabbing each other with a pikestaff – enjoyed a procession into the village of Kineton for a pint, a curry or fish and chips.
The friends came up with the idea of forming a period army while dressed in cavalier costume in 1968 to publicise the launch of Peter Young’s book on The Battle of Edgehill. Last weekend, the memorial march into Kineton, was followed by beer and an AC/DC tribute band back at ‘camp’ at the sports and social club.
