Bard's bus for Shakespeare Celebrations weekend
BUS services change in Stratford-upon-Avon on the day of the Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations, Saturday 23rd April but Henley transport firm Johnsons Coach and Bus Travel will be running a service as normal to Guild Street in the town.
Johnsons Excelbus have bus services to the town centre stopping at Guild Street on Saturday when all buses are diverted away from Bridge Street and Wood Street to allow the celebrations to take place on the town’s streets.
Stratford has a programme of activities and events to commemorate their most famous son and they will reach their climax on Saturday as the town celebrates the Bard’s 400 year legacy.
The 2016 Shakespeare’s Birthday Parade starts at 10.30am and will include civic dignitaries, invited guests from the worlds of literature and theatre, students of Shakespeare’s school and characters in period dress, all accompanied by marching bands and many local schoolchildren making their way through the streets towards Holy Trinity Church.
Following the parade there will be other celebrations including active storytelling, demonstrations and craft activities; David Tennant will be in town presenting Shakespeare Live! from the RSC; and there will be the official opening of Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall.
