The grand re-opening of Stratford ArtsHouse will take place on 20 October with the venue being re-named as Play House.

Proon Productions took over the venue at the end of June, after Stratford Town Trust, which owns the building, and the former operator, The ArtsHouse Trust, failed to come to an agreement over funding.

Proon Productions recently revealed a string of special events in the run-up to the October opening, as excitement begins to build around Play House.

The activities kick off with an exhibition from the Stratford Photographic Society during the first two weeks of September before the venue hosts a two-day jazz festival on 12 and 19 September.

On 21 September Cannon and Ball will perform their show ‘In the Dressing Room’ while on 27 September the venue’s regular comedy club will begin, a fixture the operators hope will become a popular attraction.

The Play House will also take place in the national Fun Palace Day, promoting culture and community, on 6 October.

Proon Productions are currently appealing for artists to help decorate the venue, with plans for a large mural on one of the rear walls.

The company are also encouraging local youngsters to complete self-portraits, which will be used to decorate the foyer when it opens in October.
