Appeal sends Ciara to USA

Eventually £15,000 was raised and Ciara’s journey to Miami for the treatment looks set to go ahead early next year.

Ciara was three when she was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome a rare condition that affects the development of the brain. It can cause severe physical and mental disability that begins in early childhood. Now at the age of 13 she has developed scoliosis with a 78 degree lumbar curve which a consultant has explained will regress dramatically because of hormonal changes and leave Ciara’s ribs rubbing against her hips and her lungs being crushed.

Samantha said the money raise had made all the difference.
