He hopes to score 2,015 pins from 15 frames of bowling at Tenpin Bowling, in Leamington Spa, on Tuesday 10th November, from 6pm until 9pm.

The money raised will be put towards Jack’s Rainbow campaign to raise £25,000 to buy a caravan where bereaved families can go for a free holiday, and cover at least the first year’s running costs at the Haven site in Perranporth, Cornwall.

Derek, who is planning manager at PNJ Engineering, in Alcester, and is also the chairman of Warwickshire County Council Staff Cricket Club said: “I love this campaign because you will be able to see exactly what the money donated has been used for, and hopefully it will help bereaved families for years to come.”

Derek lives in Justin’s Avenue, with Liz, who is a planning manager at Stratford-on-Avon District Council, their three-year-old son Jack Reynolds, and Liz’s son Henry Nicholson, aged 13.

He added: “I feel an affinity with this charity as the little boy it is named after sadly died the very day after we lost Ruby, and also our little boy is called Jack, who is three. The site where the van will be is in Perranporth, which is somewhere I am very familiar with from previous holidays and cricket tours.”

Derek is hoping people will sponsor him and also make a guess as to how many pins will be scored. The closest guesses stand to win a £40 meal voucher for Cox’s Yard, in Stratford, and a bottle of champagne donated by Warwick Hilton.

November, from 7.30pm until 10.30pm.He is also running a separate tenpin competition for teams of four on Tuesday 10
