25 years in prison for 50-year-old who raped and assaulted young child in Warwick area
A 50-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for raping and assaulting children.
Warwickshire Police said Scott Dobson-Smith carried out the rape and assault offences in the Warwick area between 2012-2021.
The victims were two girls aged just eight and five when the abuse started.
In February last year, Dobson-Smith, formerly of Dryburgh Crescent, Plymouth, was found guilty of nine counts of rape and sexual assault against one girl and was sentenced to 24-years imprisonment.
Last Thursday (16th January) he was back in court - at Warwick Crown Court - where he was convicted of assault and ill-treating a separate child, and was given a further 12 months on his sentence.
Following the sentencing, investigating officer Det Con Lucy Skidmore, of Wrwickshire Police, said: “Scott Dobson-Smith was known to the victims and used his position to control, manipulate and groom them.
“His crimes were despicable, and while I am pleased he is now facing the consequences, it will never undo the damage and trauma he has caused.
“I’d like to thank the victims for their courage throughout this investigation, and I hope this sentence highlights that regardless of when a sexual offence occurred, we will investigate and ensure justice prevails.”
Details of Dobson-Smith’s conviction last year could not be published until the second criminal trial was completed.
