2,800 properties suffer power cuts in Stratford

Widespread power cuts were reported across Stratford-upon-Avon this morning, triggered by an underground cable fault.

2,800 properties were affected by power shortages, with residents in the Bishopton, Trinity Mead, Bridgetown and Binton areas among those reporting problems.

Western Power Distribution said that the problems began at 8.30am, with power restored in stages by 9.20am.

The company confirmed that engineers are currently on-site to repair the fault and they did not expect supplies to be affected further.
