THE Royal Shakespeare Company’s Swan Wing restoration has won its first award — just a month after being unveiled.

The £4.8million project, completed by the Shaylor Group, won the Heritage Award at the West Midlands Celebrating Construction Awards.

Geraldine Collinge, RSC Director of Events and Exhibitions, said: “This award is great testament to the incredible detail, precision and skill that is now displayed in the finished building.”

The RSC was one of four Warwickshire finalists across the ninth annual awards’ 12 categories.

Ashe Construction and Lungfish Architects were Highly Commended in the Integration and Collaborative Working Award after working together on Aylesford School in Warwick.

That £2.7million expansion made it the first ever combined primary and secondary school in Warwickshire.

Warwickshire College and Deeley Construction were nominated the Integration and Collaborative Working Award and the Project of the Year for the college’s new Pershore campus, while the £1.2million improvement of Oakley Wood Crematorium, carried out by Kier Construction last year, was a finalist in the same category.
