Scaling heights for good cause
A TEAM of employees from B and D Electromedical, in Stratford-upon-Avon, completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday, 28th May, raising more than £6,500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
The company in Timothy’s Bridge Road manufactures Nippy ventilators, which are commonly used to treat patients with MND. Team Nippy members included Katie Lay and Adam Smith, who are from Stratford, Clare Rutter, from Newbold-on-Stour, Amy Wall, from Snitterfield, as well as Phil Hufton, Sally Cozens and Ben Brosnan.
Due to injuries, two team members Alex White and Martyn Harrold couldn’t take part.
Amy said: “We completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in ten hours and 55 minutes. It was much tougher than we were prepared for and we had a few wobbly moments but the amazing support from everyone who donated really helped push us through.
“Each carried a ventilator for the duration of the walk, and they smashed their fundraising target of £3,000.”
MND is a cause close to the team’s hearts and they frequently see the effects this disease has on the lives of patients and their families.
Amy added: “At the moment there is no cure, but by raising money and awareness, we can help to fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments, and brings us closer to a cure for MND.”
