Revamped pub at Broad Campden reopens in time for its 300th anniversary

A VILLAGE pub has reopened in time for its 300th anniversary.

Grade II-listed Bakers Arms in Broad Campden was closed early in 2024 when the previous landlord and landlady retired.

It was then bought by villagers Richard and Gail Smith, who took on the project of restoring the pub and improving the garden and dining element of the business.

A new patio has been added with upgrades to the bar and dining areas, while a new kitchen has also been installed.

The pub is marking its 300th anniversary.

The pub is leased and managed in a joint venture between Cotswold caterers, the Relish Group, the Smiths and Broad Campden residents Stephen and Charlotte Gabb.

It is under the stewardship of the Relish Group and head chef and consultant, Chris Heather, a new contemporary menu, which sits alongside pub classics – has been created.

Stephen said he hopes villagers like the changes.

β€œIt has been great fun bringing this beauty back to the village and surrounding area. We did not realise until we started the project how much it meant, not just to the locals but to so many from far and wide, and to do it in an anniversary year, is just the icing on the baked cake, excuse the pun,” he said.
