Police investigating electoral fraud

WARWICKSHIRE Police has revealed it has launched an investigation following an allegation of electoral fraud relating to the 2015 General Election in the county.

The force has not said in which district of Warwickshire the allegation centred on.

A spokeswoman said: "We intend to apply for an extension on the time limit to investigate and continue to liaise closely with the National Police Chiefs' Council and the Electoral Commission.

"As this investigation is in its early stages no further information can be given at this time but we will endeavour to provide an update at the earliest opportunity."

Last week the BBC reported how eight police forces were investigating whether Conservative MPs filed election expenses illegally after the 2015 General Election.
