If he wins, he will be on his way to Wembley for the National final in November where one person will win the coveted title, along with a brand new Toyota Proace vehicle or Hilux worth £30,000.

Simon said: “I’ve got over 99 per cent customer retention and I always go above and beyond for them. I’m available 24/7, year-round and will head to an emergency at the drop of a hat. My philosophy is to always be honest, don’t overprice and do a good job.

"I also pride myself on training up future plumbers and have mentored an apprentice who has since qualified. It’s important to give something back and pass on the skills that I have to the next generation.

"It’s fantastic to be recognised for all my hard work by being shortlisted for Britain’s Top Tradesman and I look forward to attending the regional final.”

Screwfix marketing director, John Mewett, added: "Our annual search for Britain’s Top Tradesperson is a highlight on many people’s calendars.

"Every year, the standard gets higher and we meet the nation’s best plumbers, electricians, builders and more to shortlist the top 11 in the UK who will go through to the national final.

"We only give the award to those who can prove they excel in their business, and Simon is an example of this. Along with our other finalists, he has demonstrated a willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done and leave customers satisfied.

"It's definitely not going to be easy to pick the winner who will go through to Wembley.”
