WARWICK Parkway’s station building is set to be extended with new toilets, café and waiting area.

There will also be new ticketing machines and a drop-off area.

The work is part of Chiltern Railways’s= Warwickshire Transformation Project, which also involves improvements at Leamington Spa and Solihull.

Warwick Parkway opened in 2000 and the number of passengers has steadily increased to around 650,000 last year.

A multi-storey car park was built in 2012 at the same time as the overflow car parking, but the facilities inside the station itself have not changed.

A Chiltern Railways’ spokeswoman said the cost and timetable for the work had yet to be finalised.
