A new business helping people with hearing difficulties was officially opened by Stratford MP Nadhim Zahawi on Friday.

The Hearing Centre, at the Minories, is run by Tom Dixon and his mother Victoria and offers customers hearing tests to identify hearing problems.

The clinic offers high-tech earwax removal services as well as the latest digital hearing aids.

The Stratford Centre is the second branch of the business to open having operated another centre in Worcester for the past five years.

Tom, said: “We are an independent high level hearing centre, we offer a bespoke service for our patients and we look after them with an ongoing service plan with follow up appointments. We’re about offering that extra level of care, customers don’t just walk out of the clinic and that’s it.

“One of the most popular services we offer is micro-suction ear wax removal. A lot of people can’t get to the doctor or don’t like the idea of syringes so what we use is essentially a very low pressure vacuum operated by a professional under a microscope.

“It’s instant removal and there’s no need to put olive oil in your ear for a week beforehand.

“Our service doesn’t cost the earth, we’re very competitive. My mother Victoria is our clinical director with 30 years’ experience in the industry, my cousin Alex is our trainee audiologist and my sister-in-law Cindel is our graphic designer, so we really are a true family business.

“The move to Stratford will initially enable us to take on an extra member of staff but eventually we hope it will create three new jobs.

“We decided to open a clinic here because we were finding that a lot of people from Stratford were coming over to our centre in Worcester. We knew there was a demand for what we offer here so we decided to come to them. Also in Stratford there are only national chains offering hearing solutions so we thought as an independent clinic it would be a great place to come. It was a natural progression for us to open in Stratford but we don’t want to open any more centres after this, we want to be seen as a pillar of the community in Stratford and a trusted independent business.

“The Hearing Centre in Stratford is state-of-the-art, with the best equipment available, operated by an extremely well-qualified team. It is one of the best hearing centres in the country.”
