Lloyds to close another local branch

LLOYDS Bank has announced a new raft of branch closures with one in south Warwickshire on the list of 49.

The branch on High Street in Henley-in-Arden will close on 3rd October.

It is the only bank in the town following the closure of Barclays in November last year.

Lloyds said that the number of personal banking customers was down 17 per cent on last year, and business customers down 18 per cent.

It said just 63 customers used it on a regular weekly basis and 559 monthly, and that overall it had 77 per cent fewer customers than the typical Lloyds Bank branch.

The cashpoint outside will also be removed when the branch closes, but a mobile bank will visit the town regularly, the company said.

Nationally, 49 branches will close with the loss of around 1,230 jobs.

A spokesman said: "Following a careful review, Henley-in-Arden branch will close on 3rd October, 2018.

"We have made the difficult decision to close this branch because customers are using it less often.

"In addition the majority of customers are also using alternative ways to bank.

"When we close a branch we complete a detailed impact analysis which will include how customers currently use the branch, changes to customer use of the branch, current levels of service provided by the branch including branch opening hours and ATMs, assessment and check of alternative ways to bank locally including their proximity and accessibility, which is confirmed by a visit, assessment of public transport, availability and frequency, impact on our customers including those who may need additional support, whether we own or lease the branch building.

"Customers can continue to use any other Lloyds branches and the nearest alternative branch is the Knowle Solihull branch. Additionally, one of our new Lloyds mobile branches will visit the Henley-in-Arden area which customers can use for many of their everyday banking needs."
